Double Glazed Windows

Superior in every way!

Outside temperatures and general weather conditions such as strong winds, high humidity, dust particles etc are not welcome inside any residential dwelling, same of course applies to your new timber log building. The Australian climate is generally milder than that in Northern European countries, where your log cabin is produced. As a result, the European manufacturing processes used in the production of our residential timber log buildings are catering for the extremes - including heavy snow loads on roofs, and outside temperatures down to minus 30 Degrees!

Double Glazed Window - Inward Opening

Double Glazed Window -
Inward Opening

One of the most striking construction differences are the windows. Window cut-outs form openings in the otherwise solid timber log walls. Using standard single glazed windows would result in the constant loss of internal warmth in winter or cooler air in summer, as well as causing condensation problems on colder days. As a result windows used in European residential dwellings have a vastly superior construction method that what is commonly available in Australia.

For starters - no residential European house would normally be built using single glaze windows. At the very least double glazing is standard, and very often triple glazing (!!) is used to minimise the loss of warmth in the colder winter months, and to keep heat out during peak summer. Single glazed windows are only used for garden sheds, garages and other buildings not meant for human habitation.

Tilt'n Turn Windows inward opening

All windows also have a proper rubber seal all round (sometimes even double and triple seals!) - so besides the insulation value of double glazing there is also no chance of draft coming through the frames. They feature the famous "tilt-and-turn" system - allowing you to either open the window all the way or to just tilt the top open slightly.

All our windows open inwards - this allows you to add flyscreen windows (something that is not in demand in Europe!) AND it makes cleaning your windows a real "breeze" - the outside glass is easily accessible whilst standing inside on even floor - no dangerous leaning out and over-reaching!

Our inward-opening timber windows are made to the German IV68 standard, from dry triple-layer laminated pine timber that is free of branch markings. An aluminum water drip protects the timber frame from weather damage (rain, wind, sun).

Another issue is the quality of the hardware used in the construction of our windows - German precision engineering guaranteeing smooth operation of opening, closing and locking of your log cabin windows for many years to come. High-quality non-rust and lockable ROTO fittings are included. Our tilt & turn windows also include two-point security fittings and a microvent system.
